It’s time to dust off those running shoes that may have been hiding in your closet or under your bed since the heat decided to replace the winter weather, because the Firecracker 10k, 5k, and Fun Run are all making their lap around Lenoir this summer. The Firecracker races will be held at Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex, and are the perfect way to get the family – or just yourself – out of bed and working up a sweat.
What makes this race one worth attending is the chance to swim for free afterward! Nothing better than jumping in a cold pool after a run under the summer sun, right?
The day will feature three race options: a 10k, 5k and Fun Run for kids. The race starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, so be sure you arrive between 6:30 and 7:30 to pick up your packets! If you want to sleep in a little more, you can also pick up your packet at Lenoir Aquatic and Fitness Center, at 1031 Jim Barger Ct 28645, on Friday, June 18, from 2-6 p.m.
The routes for the Firecracker 10k and 5k have been updated this year, with both having been moved to start and finish at the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex, at 1050 Zacks Fork Road 28645.
What it Costs
If you want to participate, you should act fast! Prices recently increased for each category, so sign up today to get the best deal! The 5k is $30, the 10k is $40 and the fun run is $10 until June 26 when registration ends.

What to Bring
Definitely bring sunglasses and sunscreen, because even though you’ll be in motion, the sun can still find you. Also, in case you decide to hang around after the race, a change of clothes might also come in handy. No one likes to wait around in sweaty clothes.
This is the perfect race for you or your kids – or both – so make sure you don’t miss out!
